What is a prefix and how does it work?

Ratteries use prefixes at the beginning of a rats name to show who bred the rat. For example my prefix Is registered as "PTA" If I breed a litter, all the babies get the prefix "PTA" at the beginning of their name, e.g. PTA Lincoln. You may use your prefix as a suffix when adopting a rat from another breeder, e.g. JHR Hyphen PTA. This means the rat was bred by Jackalhead Rattery but that I now own the rat. If you add a local rat without a pedigree or a rat from a non registered breeder to your rattery, they don't get your prefix but you may use the following: Ash of PTA. The same goes for the babies of an already pregnant rat added to your rattery. If you co-breed (Stud) with another registered breeder the pups will have two prefixes. The prefix of the breeder who owns the female are written down first and the prefix of the breeder who owns the buck, second, e.g. if I breed my female rat to a buck still owned by Salem Ridge Rattery, the pups will be registered as PTA SRR Star. To prevent confusion, a prefix may only be used once.
